The embankment
The complex runs along the canal, and the embankment is part of the project rather than an approach to it. The ground floors on the water side are open, with seating and lighting along them — in the evening this side works as public space for the district, not only as a yard for residents.

The entrances
Every stair core has its own entrance: a canopy, a sunken approach, a ramp and planting at the door. It costs more than a standard porch, but it is what decides how the building reads from the street — the entrance stops being a door in a wall and becomes an address.
