About the project
A courtyard villa: the pool runs as a ribbon along the whole glazed wall and the living room opens onto it completely. The site is narrow, so privacy here is won not by distance from the neighbour but by the height of the blank walls and dense planting around the courtyard — from inside you see only water and green.

Double-height living room
The living room rises through two storeys, and an open stair with timber treads on thin rods stands within that volume. The double height is not about effect but about air: in the tropics a tall volume with full-height glazing draws warm air upwards by itself, and the room does not turn into an oven by midday.
Timber and light
Pale timber runs across walls, ceiling and built-in furniture — one tone, with no transitions between zones. Because of that the small villa reads as a single space rather than a set of rooms. Dark colour is kept for the kitchen alone: the black cabinet fronts and stone worktop make it a separate object inside the pale volume.
