Aikido Federation building
The Aikido Federation building in Tashkent in a Japanese style with an inner Japanese garden. Architecture and engineering by SAD studio, 2017; second-degree diploma of the Union of Architects of Uzbekistan.
Japanese style in Tashkent's code
A sports building has to hold large numbers of people and withstand heavy use, and besides the halls it needs changing rooms, coaches' offices, plant rooms and equipment storage. The studio designed it together with the chairman of the Aikido Federation and representatives of the Japanese cultural centre. The Japanese image still fits Tashkent's architectural code. The project received a second-degree diploma of the Union of Architects of Uzbekistan in the Public Buildings category, 2017.

A real Japanese garden
The inner courtyard holds a Japanese garden. Landscape designers from Japan, who have worked on classical gardens for decades, were brought in for it. The courtyard makes the space feel larger and introduces visitors to Japanese culture before they reach the hall.
